My Story
I am a Sacramento native, and I grew up right here in the Arden area. I am committed to bringing the creative arts to this area, because not only is it good for the soul but for our community. We all can connect through stories, wether that's with dancing, singing, acting or any other art form. My hope is that BACKSTAGE Performing Arts Center becomes a home for creative beings to express themselves in a fun and safe way.
I started my ballet training at the age of four with the local legend Margurite Phares at Margurite Phares School of Dance. After ten years of training under her eye, a new passion for Musical Theater and other forms of dance came to light for me. I finished out my training at Broadway Academy with another local legend, Dave Macdonald. Throughout my Sacramento training I performed locally in community as well as professional theater. After High School, I went on to dance for the Sacramento Kings for 4 seasons and served as Dance Captain for 3 of those years. While I was happy in Sacramento, I had always dreamed of moving to New York City and performing on Broadway. So, with support from my mentors, teachers, friends and family, I packed two suitcases, sold my car and booked a one way ticket. My very first audition was the for revival of "A Chorus Line" I remember that day so vividly…hundreds of people on 42nd street waiting for their chance to be seen. When I finally made it into the room, I stated my name, did a double pirouette to the right and left and then…yes…I was CUT..ha! BUT walked out of that audition feeling amazing because I knew I was going to make it. Funnily enough, two years later I auditioned for the 1st National Tour of the same show and BOOKED it! Since then, I have been very fortunate to have worked on many projects, both on and off Broadway. Even the shows that didn't make it all the way were a labor of love with the best in the business. My goal was to be a working actor and I was very lucky to say that is exactly what I was.
I met, my husband(Derek) on tour with A Chorus Line. We enjoyed a lovely time falling in love and touring the world together. We got married in 2011 and then, after both doing serval shows in New York, we decided to start our family. We welcomed our first son, Benji in June of 2017. I continued to live the dream of working on Broadway as a mom and just when we were planning to have another child..COVID Hit… I can't really explain what COVID-19 did to New York City. It was a lot. But it did change our perspective on how we wanted to raise our family. I was pregnant with our son Noah, who was born in December of 2020, a true COVID baby. With all of the change in NYC and Derek having already transitioned into a new career, we decided it was time for something new. So after 17 years of living in the big apple, we packed up our kiddos and moved to Sacramento for sunshine, family and a backyard.
After a year of living here in Sacramento, I will admit it's been all the things. We've connected with old friends and made so many new ones. Benji is now settled at Mariemont Elementary, Noah is about to start preschool and Derek works remotely from NYC in our home office. As an artist, I am ready for my next adventure. I am so thrilled to be starting BACKSTAGE Performing Arts Center! As a kid growing up in the area, I was so grateful for my studios. They were my safe space for many reasons. I felt understood there. I felt seen. My hope is to create a space for anyone who is looking to find their creative self. Wether you want to do this as a professional or just want to express yourself and be creative, I want to help facilitate that for you. My goal is to find a permeant space with mirrors and multiple rooms so we can explore all of mediums of artistic expression! Acting, Singing, Musicals, Plays, Art, Design and of course DANCE!
Thank you so much for being a part of this journey with me. My heart is full when sharing my passion for the performing arts. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
