Let's Dance
2024 Spring Recital
May 18th

Let’s Dance!

BACKSTAGE Performing Arts Center's 1st Recital!

What - Our first-ever spring dance recital is a professionally curated showcase where our talented performers, your children, demonstrate the skills they've learned throughout the year. It's a one-of-a-kind event, carefully crafted to highlight their achievements in dance, providing a glimpse into their artistic growth. Parents, family, and friends are invited to attend this special production, celebrating the dedication and hard work of our young dancers.

Where/When - Our recital will be held at Mariemont Elementary School - 1401 Corta Way, Sacramento, CA 95864 - on the STAGE in the multipurpose room on May 18th. Showtime is at 1 pm. Dancers will have a dress rehearsal on stage day of. Exact times for each class will be sent out closer to the date, but please hold 10:30 am - 12 pm for rehearsal at Mariemont on the 18th. We will have a short break, and then dancers are called back at 12:40 pm, 20 mins before our 1 pm show. Show run time is approximately 30mins.

Your Dancers' Experience - This recital is about building confidence, independence, teamwork, and empowerment! Each dancer will wear a rented costume piece/possible headpiece to go along with clothing items and dance shoes they have at home. Also, each dancer will receive 2 tickets to the show. You will get a video recording of the entire recital. They get to experience a SHOW on a stage and show off all their hard work. We will work together to put on a show that we all feel really proud of!

Investment - The cost for dancers in one class is $60. If your dancer is in two classes, it's $60 for the first class and $40 for the second, with a total of $100.

Payment - The recital fee will be billed in two equal installments - $30 for 1 class and $50 for 2 classes. The first half will be due March 1st. The second half will be due April 1st. I am planning to charge each family through our dance studio pro app. If you would like to pay via cash or check, please let me know, I can accept those forms as well.

Want More Tickets? - You may purchase more tickets for $10/each. They must be purchased before May 18th. We will be putting tickets on sale closer to the event, sometime at the end of April. Contact me for more information.

Pictures - I'm looking into getting a photographer to come take professional shots of individual dancers, friends, and/or siblings. Dancers will be able to be in their recital costume for these photos. This photoshoot will be held at Arden Manor sometime in May, separate from class time. We will create timed appointments for those interested. Please note, this is a separate cost and will be paid directly to the photographer. Please let me know if you are interested in this service. I'll be sending out more details once I have them. Reach out with any questions.

I am so excited to see all the dancers shine on STAGE! I am so proud of each and everyone of them, and I am so looking forward to this performance.

Have an old t-shirt? I recommend taking an old shirt and cutting the neck out! You can pull this over your costume while eating and hanging out without the risk of staining your costume.

More Detailed INFORMATION on what to expect day of -

Arrival: Call time for our on-stage rehearsal for dancers is 10:30 am! Reminder to arrive in costume. A list of what your child needs will in this email below. Parents will need to enter the building and bring their child to their team member. You will be assigned a team member leader a week before our performance. Please allow yourself time to park and find the entrance. We will have some balloons set up to help guide families in the multipurpose room. The schedule of call times for dancers for the full day is listed below.

Day Expectation: My recommendation is to plan for a full day! Pack snacks and a lunch. We have an outside area with picnic tables where you may eat with your child. You may also relax inside the gym during the break times. During our two breaks, caregivers will need to pick up their child from their team member. You can use your break time to take photos of your child on our step and repeat, use the restroom, touch up hair and makeup, EAT (healthy snacks, save the treats for after the show!), relax, and unwind. You know your child so do what you think is best for them! Our two breaks are short enough to keep our focus on the shows, eat and use the bathroom as once the kids are backstage it will be hard to do.

Drop Off: Once you have dropped off your child, we ask that you exit the building until it's time to pick up. (Please note: we will have a few parents backstage with children that have high needs. If you feel your child will need extra support and we haven't connected, please reach out to me.) This process will help us keep the focus on your child as we will be moving quickly on and off the stage. This will be the same process for both show drop-offs as well. Once you drop your child off at call time, please exit the building and either wait to be seated for the performance or come back to pick up your child. Remember, we will be checking all tickets at the door, and all tickets are for general seating. We hope to start both shows on time, so please do your best to have you and your party arrive on time.

Questions day of: During the day the best way to solve and issue or problem is with your team member. You'll be assigned someone the week before the show and should you need support for any reason they are the person to ask! I will be around but I will be wearing lots of hats. So best to ask them first! Thank you!

Gentle reminders: We are thrilled to be putting on this recital! Let us please be patient as we are working with kids from ages 3-11 years old. These kids have been working so hard, and we want to be as positive and encouraging throughout the day for all the children and volunteers. Being on time for call times sets all the kids up for success, so please be on time and give yourself a buffer window of time since everyone will always be arriving at the same time.

End of the day: After the second show, after the children have said their hellos and taken pictures with families, you will be returning your costumes to your team members. Dancers in two numbers will be wearing their last costume, so they will only need to return one costume. Please make sure to bring your hanger and garment bag with you in the morning, as well as a change of clothes. You'll receive a check list of what to bring day of the show. We will make a few changing areas backstage, and dancers may use the restrooms. Once you've returned your costume, you will get a special gift from us! Oh lala!

Happy to answer any questions you may have!
